30 day breakaway

As part of the 30-day Breakaway workout routine that I’ve been doing for the last several months, there is a specific workout day or partial day called Rest Day Roll Out.  This is where we stretch and enhance the recovery with a total-body foam-rolling routine. 

Don’t Skip stretching

I have to admit for the first 30 days that I followed the program, I would skip this workout routine; however, I started to feel guilty that I wasn’t completing the whole program, and for the last 30 days, I decided I would try it. 

There were definitely muscle groups (specifically my IT band) that were / are more sore than others during the rolling, but I’ve really started to enjoy this workout.

And after I completed the 5k run a few weeks ago, I followed through with the rest day rollout routine for several days in a row to recover and relieve sore, tight muscles.  It even helped me sleep better, and I didn’t wake up sore after the race! 

Going forward – I will not miss this day’s workout!
