Notable Places, Experiences & Events

It felt like forever since we took SV Zeke E Boy out on the lake, and since we’re planning a trip up the sunset coast next week.  We thought we’d take her out in weather that would be pushing our comfort zone a bit.

And it sure did … the boat could handle the waves, but Kara could not.  After about 30 minutes out she was ready to head back.  We left later in the day than our usual day sail – thinking that we’d eat lunch on the lake.  Kara was starving at the dock but as soon as we hit the rollers – her stomach did not need any food.  But we ate a little just to try to settle our stomachs a bit.

After an hour on the water, we decided to call it.  We learned that we do not want to push our trip next week.  If the weather isn’t comfortable, we’ll wait for a better window.  This may mean longer reservations and overlapping dates/times, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

We didn’t have anything too memorable happen on the journey.  When we left the dock, the boat turned differently with the south wind in the harbor that we nearly hit our neighbors boat, but Kyle got her turned just in time.  Plus Kara was there to push off the post if needed.  It was just unfortunate that it was in front of our dockmate – but he did see us recover nicely.

Coming in was probably our best docking experience.  Kyle turned short and pulled directly in, and Kara is getting better at handling the dock lines.  It did help that the wind died throughout the day so we didn’t have it pushing us into or away from the dock.

Once again celebration in the marina pool and hot tub to discuss our trip next week, and pray for good weather! 🙏
