Project Overload
In Winter Project Planning & Budget, I shared all of the work that needed to be done on SV Zeke E Boy – including replacing the galley sinks. But after budgeting each of the projects, we had to narrow down the focus for only the most critical items this winter and we decided not to replace the sinks this year. Instead, the major projects we tackled include:

However, there were several other projects that weren’t large enough to warrant their own blog post, but I still wanted to document and share what we fixed up.
Take Time to Care
Part of owning a boat is taking care of it – maybe the better statement is owning a boat is half using it and half working on it. (Although Kara would argue it’s 20% using it and 80% working on it!) One advantage of sailing our boat on the Great Lakes is that we’re forced to take a break every six months for winter, and we get to fix all of the things we can during this time.
Hopefully, this will make SV Zeke E Boy more enjoyable when she goes into the water soon!
Here is a short list of other items we tackled this winter:
- Replaced engine fresh water hose
- Replaced the solar panels wiring harness
- Refinished the galley drawers
- Fixed and refinished the fridge/freezer doors
- Cleaned the AC unit and filter
- Re-caulked all the bathroom joints
- Deep-cleaned every storage locker
- Repainted the bottom of the boat
- Polished the propeller
Spring is approaching – it’s getting warmer and the days are getting longer. Things are growing and changing from brown to green … We’re days away from spring 2023 launch!!! It’s a very exciting time of the year!
