Notable Places, Experiences & Events

We followed Captain Steve on SV Karma out of the harbor with no issues, and put up our sail (jib only) right away.  It was a very calm day on the water.

Unfortunately, after about an hour out on the lake, we had a visitor join us onboard – a finch, who was determined to hitch a ride to where ever we were going.  The good news is he cleaned up the boat – eating all of the spiders and bugs.  The bad news is he really wanted to come below deck, so Kara spent the rest of the time defending it.  Let’s just say it wasn’t a very peaceful sail.

We were also trying to use our new GoPro, but when Kyle took it down he didn’t shut off, so the battery was drained when we went to try and film our adventures entering the harbor.  Kara was slightly frustrated but quickly went away when we had to deal with all of the boat traffic at the entrance.

As I was getting the lines ready to dock, I was able to shoo the bird off the boat to land right as when hit the cement for the Lake Michigan Yacht Club.  Kyle docked us perfectly – except he said I still need to work on my end because apparently we hit the post on the starboard side.  I didn’t see it, but bummer – because our neighbors were actually there.

It was so hot we had to relax and chill in the pool before heading home.  Success!
